We are asking for your help and signatures in hopes of getting the City of Modesto to do something about the Modesto Inn Motel located at the corner of Needham and Virginia Ave. The options would be either to clean it up or close it entirely. Something needs to be done. This motel is said to have many code violations. Occupants openly conduct their drug and violent activity freely. On February 16th, a seventeen year old who lives across the street was in his home when an occupant of the motel and others went up to his house and coaxed him outside. He was then stabbed repeatedly multiple times in the back, puncturing both lungs. The entire street was shut down to hunt down the perpetrators, as the victim was transported to Doctor's Hospital where he fought for his life. Thankfully, he survived the attack, but certainly will never be the same. The Modesto Inn and its occupants are an eyesore, windows are knocked out continually, screaming and fighting are heard often through out the day and night. The Modesto Police Department has made over 162 calls to the motel in a period of one year. Drugs and violence seem to be on the rise, and it appears that the city is turning a blind eye to the activities conducted there. Neighboring homes are broken into on a regular basis, while the occupants vandalize, drink, and use illegal drugs in the vacant homes up for sale close by. We ask that you join us in signing this petition to end the violence, gang activity, and the use and sale of illegal drugs in our neighborhood. We want nothing more than for our families and children to be safe. It's time to stop believing that these problems will go away on their own, or as many have said in the past, "I don't think anything can be done about that place."
