Dear Islip Animal Shelter,

Phil Ramos,

Pete King,

and to whom it may concern,

As someone who frequently partakes in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), it's exhausting to drive, sometimes over an hour, to the free programs for spay/neuter and vaccinations because my town does not have a TNR program in place, and near-by ones are limited to those town residences only.

I wrote this in hopes of convincing Islip Animal Shelter to start a TNR program for it's residences.

A good TNR program should include free or low cost spay/neuter services, vaccines, ear-tips and even better- trap rentals.

Islip Animal Shelter has before shown little to no concern over intact stray/ferals. This is simply unacceptable. This is an everyones' problem and we all must take responsibility for the problem we allowed as a whole to flourish. It's time for us as a community to tackle this free roaming cat issue, humanely, affectively, and preferrably soon. We all see stray cats running everywhere, run over in the road, diseases kittens, dying pregnant mothers.. and if we wait until it gets unmanagable, it will take much longer to see the results we could see in a month.

Kitten season is fastly approaching. How much longer do we have to tread through these seasons because we simply cannot drive so far for the programs that could be less than ten minutes from many of us

There was a meeting for Islip to hear on this matter, but it's time for them to listen to us.

Please sign & share, and let's see this get done.

Islip town is in desperate need of a TNR program. I fed and TNR cats in this town and the numbers are staggering. It is imperative that Islip get this very much needed program. Why can other towns have programs in place and not Islip?

Very important for the town to come together with private citizens and rescue groups to humanely trap, neuter and release in order to decrease the stray population.Educating citizens that this is an option that your town will help with will certainly decrease the suffering of the stray and feral population.Thank you.

As someone who is "out in the field" doing TNR, I can tell you that Islip has a very bad feral/stray cat problem that is only getting worse. TNR is the only solution to the problem. It is a proven and humane way to stop the feral cat overpopulation problem.

We do TNR and it works. Our entire neighborhood benefits from 2 of us who do this. One of the shelters that sponsors a low cost spay neuter program actually takes in $1500 to $2000 a week in income from it, so it also helps the cause of other needy animals. Win/win.

A viable TNR program will help reduce euthanasia in your shelter...it turns out to be cost-efficient and a very positive image in the community. If you would like to discuss facilitating a low-cost clinic, we'd be glad to meet with you. We operated a free clinic for 22 years and know TNR works.

Please allow a TNR program to take place in your city because it is very stressful on a feral cat in a trap to be transported to a vet over an hour away.

As a trapper on LI, I urge you to help the feral cats by putting a TNR program in place.
