The goal of this petition is to allow the Friends of Hempstead Pound to show the city Mayor and city Counsil that the community cares about the animals being kept in the city pound.

I just saw we hit two hundred and fifty signatures and honestly my head is spinning a bit because I really thought this would just be a small thing between me and a few neighbors. It is wild to see this many people actually care about the pound and those poor animals because sometimes it feels like nobody is paying attention to what happens behind those walls.

I was just checking the dashboard and noticed we are inching toward two hundred fifty signatures which honestly makes me want to cry a little bit because those poor animals really need us to keep this momentum going. Could you take a second to send this link to a few folks who might care because if we hit that milestone today it might actually force the council to stop ignoring my emails.

I checked the count and we are really creeping up on triple digits which is just wild because I remember when it was just me staring at the screen wondering if anyone actually cared about those shelter dogs. If you have a second please blast this out to a group chat or a neighbor because once we hit one hundred I have a much better chance of getting someone at City Hall to actually listen to my emails instead of just ignoring the inbox.

Lets work together, citizens and government for humane solutions. This is totally unacceptable. These poor animals do not deserve this. Please!
What is the point of this "intake" facility...if NOTHING is done to adopt the animals out?!! The City of Hempstead needs to fix this NOW!!
Please allow for these animals to have human interaction and allow volunteers to network dogs for rescue or adoption. Treat all animals in a humane manner please. They are innocent in this world.
I Believe that animals deserve a chance just like we do. Let's give the Hempstead Pound a helping hand please and thank you!
The conditions of the animal shelter are Beyond neglect our community is better than this as a citizen of this community I insist that we do better by these animals

There needs to be a change in this situation. There are offers of help but access must be allowed to improve the quality of the lives of the dogs. The elected city officials must be willing to allow and accept help from outside resources. Stray or not no animal deserves this as a life. Please do the right thing and make a change.
