The Meadows School Uniform Policy Petition:

This petition, signed by parents, alumni and faculty, is to humbly ask The Board of Trustees and Headmaster Jeremy Gregersen to NOT enact the new gender dress code changes for the 2015-2016 school year.

The new dress code is a monumentous change in the culture, paradigm and direction of the school. We the undersigned request an open meeting with The Board of Trustees and Jeremy Gregersen. We; the parents, alumni, faculty, and generous school supporters need to be included in an open quorum to discuss the decision process and weigh in as part of the process.

We have placed immense trust in our Board of Trustees and in Headmaster Jeremy Gregersen to make decisions that do impact the future of our children. We need to understand and discuss this decision process in order to offer our support.

I do not have a problem making some changes to the uniforms at the Meadows. I do have a problem making such a profound change, as gender neutrality would, without listening to the Meadows family.

As a parent, I would like to see more research and discussion among the School-wide community regarding this issue. I will certainly honor and respect whatever the ultimate decision is, however, feel that such a drastic change needs more voice.

Trustee 1984-2002 I believe we need to have a community discussion before a final decision is rendered. This decision was in haste and did not seem to allow for the school community to discuss and offer all sides to the question.

As a private school I would expect the School board to discuss such a monumental issue with the parents and provide all the information they receive and not unilaterally, as result of few requests affect the majority of the students. I am very concerned about the direction the board has taken.

I value tradition and don't want to see any erosion of it at TMS. If this change is such a great idea, why was only one side of the issue allowed to be presented? The desire of a few shouldn't outweigh the good of the many.

I agree strongly with the sentiments of both Caroline Goodman and Kristine Creel. Personally, I work very hard and make immense sacrifices in order to provide my children with the kind of education that the Meadow School has provided, and I find the decision to make such a fundamental alteration to the Meadow School experience, traditions, and standards to be hasty and without sufficient consideration.

The reason for the change is to allow girls at TMS to wear pants, That hardly qualifies as an LGBT takeover of the school. Someone explain to me why forcing young women to wear a skirt when it's windy or cold is a good idea.
