This petition was started by Middle School students in the hopes that the Middle School will adopt a girls uniform beginning in the 2021/2022 school year. The loosened up dress code during the pandemic has made girls realize just how stressful it was when they had to adhere to the SSSAS dress code from last year. Girls have a particularly difficult time finding clothing that falls within the dress code and fits properly. Having a uniform would relieve stress and anxiety that the dress code causes and would reduce the number of formals given for violations. Uniforms would nurture a sense of equity, inclusion and belonging. Students would stand out because of their character and personalities and not their clothes. Uniforms would also save parents money. The petition only addresses a girls uniform because the dress code for boys already closely resembles a uniform.
Girls, Boys and Parents within the SSSAS (current and rising) Middle School community are all welcome to join us in this petition!
The idea here is to find out what the interest level is, so please no negative comments. Be sure to write your first and last name. This will only work if we have real signatures.

Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing the support grow reminds me why we started this fight in the first place. The response proves that we are not alone in wanting relief from these dress code pressures. We keep moving forward.

YES PLEASE. finding stuff that is cute but also 'school appropriate' is impossible.
it just makes sense. kids shouldnt be getting in trouble for their clothes when they are trying to learn.
also, some people like to express their personality by clothing. the sense of equality will be gone to people who don’t want the dress code. especially since it’s only the girls that this petition would be for. personally i don’t want to be told what to wear. i hated the lower school uniform and this wouldn’t be any better.
personally i like having the freedom to wear what i like everyday. maybe instead of making a petition to make a strict dress code/uniform, we can start a petition to make the dress code more free so we don’t get dress coded.
The dress code is so confusing. Just make it simple for everyone.

getting ready in the morning is such a headache trying to figure out what follows the rules. uniforms would literally save us so much time.
