To Petition Elbert County (Commissioners & Public Works), to modify, pave, or otherwise improve Thunder Hill Road in Elbert County CO (between Singing Hills Road & Vista Ridge Road).

Current condition of road causes wasted tax dollars on constant grading, up keep of equipment, and district bus repair.

Severe and constant erosion of roadway is past regular maintenance that may otherwise be applicable.

Current condition of roadway causes unneeded maintenance on over 200+ homeowners utilizing road on a daily basis.

Thunder Hill Road is a main feeder road, and emergency vehicle route for north eastern Elbert county housing community (Singing Hills Area), and should be constructed and maintained as such.

Forward Petition and details to Elbert County, to construct a satisfactory resolution for a long term improvement plan for Thunder Hill Road.
Attempt to utilize current tax funding for improvement.
Otherwise negotiate terms of improvement with county representatives.

Updates

March 30, 2015

My car suspension is basically screaming for mercy every time I head down Thunder Hill and the amount of gravel I see scattered across the pavement is just beyond absurd at this point. I have been digging through the county budget records lately trying to find where the maintenance funds are actually disappearing to because it sure isn't showing up on our crumbling road. Someone from the public works office finally picked up the phone today so things are potentially moving forward behind the scenes while I keep pushing them to acknowledge how bad the erosion actually is.

The potholes and the consistent washboard effect along Thunderhill Road needs to be much improved. The wear and tear on residents vehicles is also another concern.

This community is long over due in getting these roads paved. It will increase the value of all our properties. It will also save the county the money they are currently wasting grading the roads with a $500000 piece of equipment and a the operator doing a average job at best.

There was an article published in the Elbert County news dated 9/16/2008 which stated that the Board if County Commissioners on September 10, 2008 approved the start of the Capitol Road Project Improvement funded by the voter approved sales tax fund which listed two miles of Thunderhill Road as one of the projects due to dust mitigation. I have lived here since 1998 and the roads have been less maintained in the last year than ever before.

We have lived here for 20 years and have seen the road progressively get worse. The grading the County currently does, has little or no effect on the quality of the road. It was in much better shape 20 years ago!

We are one of the first homes built in Thunder Hill back in the 70's. Approximately 7 years ago it was published in the paper that Thunder Hill Rd would be paved. I have never had such a difficult time getting up the hill when it is wet. I have been and am currently in favor of paving the road. In the long run the costs would be less for regular maintenance. I am against the constent use of the magnesium chloride.

Personally, members of our household have incurred thousand of dollars in repairs necessitated by poor conditions of the road

If the county can assess higher tax rates then they need to make the appropiate improvements to the county!

Although the new grader guy is light years better than the last one, continual grading is not a long term solution to this problem.
