To all those who travel Snow's Road through Camino, CA (El Dorado County) please consider signing our grassroots petition to address the many dangerous conditions that exist on this well traveled county road. Many residents have called the County office of the Department of Transportation with their concerns, but little has been done to alleviate numerous problems. It is only a matter of time before one of us (or many) is/are involved in an accident due to some of the following:
• eroding edges
• areas that are sinking with dangerous drop-offs below
• areas that are too narrow for two cars to pass safely
• blind curves
• areas that are narrow and not sufficiently banked with treacherous drop-offs and no guard railing ...
• “allegatoring"
• areas that ice over due to underground seepage
• dead beetle infested trees that are right on the edge of the road with very little soil to support them
• substantial potholes
Add to the above concerns the many power poles and large trees that are growing into the road edges that need to be removed (trees) and repositioned (power poles).
As residents we have all been made aware by Cal Fire to be vigilant in removing overgrown and dead brush around our homes and roadways. Why isn't the County being as vigilant in making these rural residential roads safe for all who travel and live here?
I hope you will join me in signing this petition. It will then be submitted to the County Department of Transportation for their consideration.
Thank You

I have spent the past several days compiling a formal report of the road hazards identified by residents for submission to the county officials. The persistence of these unsafe conditions remains the primary focus of our efforts despite the lack of a formal response from the department.

The momentum behind this effort has grown beyond my initial expectations. It is clear that the condition of Snows Road is a shared concern that requires urgent attention from the county.

I have also been wanting to call this issue into the Department of Transportation. At the Camino end of Snow's road, right after the school, there is a length of roadway, with no shoulder, where the asphalt is cracking and slowly sinking over the edge of the sharp slope. There is no way to avoid crossing over into the oncoming lane unless you want to roll over the side of the road!
We were driving down Snows Road just the other day and to avoid a large pot hole turned the steering wheel and ended up going off the side of the road hitting the undercarriage of the car.... Very dangerous road surface!
Why plan on spending money to replace a bridge on Newtown road that does not create a problem when Snows Road has some very dangerous curves that need guard rails Repairing Snows Road would be a much better use of funds..
I am a 68 1/2 year old widow. I depend on that road to see my family in Camino. Please repair it and make it safer for me. I've been a resident of Pollock Pines since 1976. This is the 2nd house I have owned. I have paid all my taxes. Thank you.
People also drive way too fast on Snows Road, particularly by the school where kids are coming and going. This might not be a popular suggestion, but speed bumps or other measure of controls would be pertinent coming from and two the school on both lanes.
Rancho del Sol
Please fix that road. Winter time is the worst.

Have been using Snows since 2002 and the constant patching has eroded causing more patching and a worst driving surface constantly degrading into vehicle suspensions and tires breaking frequently.
