Thunder Hill Rd. Improvement

If the county can assess higher tax rates then they need to make the appropiate improvements to the county!

Although the new grader guy is light years better than the last one, continual grading is not a long term solution to this problem.

The potholes and the consistent washboard effect along Thunderhill Road needs to be much improved. The wear and tear on residents vehicles is also another concern.

I am in full support of this petition and will make every effort to attend the meeting being set up with the Elbert County officials.

Last time we tried this elbert county opened it up to all sub divisions and when we tried to get them to correct it ,they said no. we put up 20,000 of our own money to put it on the ballot. Good Luck

I met last week with the County Manager, and District 2 Commissioner. The meeting went as I had expected, and was told only of Elbert Counties fiscal issues. I mainly listened to their "canned lecture" on the money issues facing the county, just to get a feel for what/who we are dealing with. The fact that the county received substantially less revenue than other counties really doesn't hold much water with me as they mis-manage the revenue they do receive, and their expenditures should be proportionate to their revenue. I am attempting to set up a community meeting in the coming weeks, with county reps present, and need everyone possible to attend. One thing I took from my meeting last week was how sure they were that "not many people will get involved". Please reply to [email protected] if you can attend. Would like to have safer roads for my 2 children. it is long overdue as the other nieghborhoods/subdivisions have paved roads

crushed asphalt would be better at keeping the holes and wash board from developing so soon after grading

This community is long over due in getting these roads paved. It will increase the value of all our properties. It will also save the county the money they are currently wasting grading the roads with a $500000 piece of equipment and a the operator doing a average job at best.

So what is happening with the petition? What are the next steps?I see there are 49 of 100 targeted signatures.

tired of seeing the road graders going up and down the street wasting gas and employee time when they cannot seem to make a dent on the road due to it being to muddy or to dry. seems like a wadte of my tax money going to the county.

There was an article published in the Elbert County news dated 9/16/2008 which stated that the Board if County Commissioners on September 10, 2008 approved the start of the Capitol Road Project Improvement funded by the voter approved sales tax fund which listed two miles of Thunderhill Road as one of the projects due to dust mitigation. I have lived here since 1998 and the roads have been less maintained in the last year than ever before.

Please fix the road. We have seen roads in third world countries much much better than this.

Need this road fixed before my truck shakes apart

Since the road grader drivers were laid off to save money, the snowplow drivers do not know how to properly grade a dirt road with a crown for water run-off. Also, will the county pay me for the 3 feet of property they added to the width of the road?

We have lived here for 20 years and have seen the road progressively get worse. The grading the County currently does, has little or no effect on the quality of the road. It was in much better shape 20 years ago!

Being relativley new to the neighborhood I have been amazed at the poor condition of Thunderhill Rd. and the time, effort, energy and money that the county spends putitng a band aid on the problem. Our home has frontage on Thunderhill and in the last 2 winter seasons we have had a car come through our fence and our neighbor had the same along with their mail box knocked down. The sad part is the ice and snow were gone and it was the mud that caused them to slide off of the road. We are all for permanent improvement to Thunderhill Rd.

Pavement of roads promotes a healtier environment, increases property values which benefits home ownership and the County with increased revenue over time.

We are one of the first homes built in Thunder Hill back in the 70's. Approximately 7 years ago it was published in the paper that Thunder Hill Rd would be paved. I have never had such a difficult time getting up the hill when it is wet. I have been and am currently in favor of paving the road. In the long run the costs would be less for regular maintenance. I am against the constent use of the magnesium chloride.
