Redbridge Council has officially rescinded the proposed funding cuts to the Kenneth More Theatre. This success belongs to the hundreds of individuals who advocated for the preservation of our local arts scene. We must remain attentive to future budgetary discussions regarding this space to ensure its continued stability.

Redbridge council have proposed a series of cuts to the core funding of The Kenneth More Theatre, in Ilford. Essex. Ultimately, this will mean the closure of the venue within 3 years. The loss of this venue will mean that The London Borough of Redbridge no longer has a theatre, leaving thousands of patrons in a cultural wasteland (this year's panto alone sold 16,000 tickets), dozens of community arts groups with no home, schools with no available performance space, and the theatre staff made redundant.

In signing this petition, you will make your objections to Redbridge Council's plans know!

Some of my friends started their careers at this venue as performers. Would be a shame to see such a great help for up and coming performers close.

The Kenneth Moore Theatre is unique to Ilford. We go to the panto every year as a way of introducing our children to the performing arts. How else am I going to get my now 6 year old son to take me to the theatre in my dotage?

I've always taken my children and now grandchildren to the pantomime, plus visit the theatre several times a year. There is nothing elsewhere in the borough that provides a forum for amateur dramatics and other borough events. Instead of reducing funding you should be promoting use of the theatre.

Redbridge council need to take a long-term view. Ilford doesn't need any more empty shops or flats. The Kenneth More Theatre is a resource that should be invested in. It forms part of Ilford's cultural heritage.

I am very sorry to hear about the theatre closing. This is the centre point of Ilford where it is possible for all to get to, young and old. Will be very grateful if you can make it possible for it to stay open. Thanking you. Hemlata

This venue needs to be saved for the community to use.
