The Kenneth More Theatre

I am very sorry to hear about the theatre closing. This is the centre point of Ilford where it is possible for all to get to, young and old. Will be very grateful if you can make it possible for it to stay open. Thanking you. Hemlata

Some of my friends started their careers at this venue as performers. Would be a shame to see such a great help for up and coming performers close.

This venue needs to be saved for the community to use.

A sad loss to the community a great little theatre that provides a wide range of entertainment for local people who can't afford at end prices

It would be a sad loss if the KMT could not continue to lack of funding. The KMT has been a important part of Ilford for 41years and enjoyed by thousands

What a shame. I played there once in a school performance in the 1970s - great experience. It would be such a loss. Opportunities like that are so important.

I'm still angry over the closure of the Valentine's Park swimming pool years ago. And now they're proposing to cut the funding for this theatre!

What a disgrace. Any protests planned?

Theatres provide a very valuable focus for the creative development of children in the borough. They also provide a venue for people from the borough to come together to enjoy the creativity from within the borough. Cutting the funding of the Kenneth More Theatre saves the council very little so why do it? Is the Labour administration trying to create a cultural wasteland?

It will be a sad day if the Kenneth More Theatre is closed. Ilford will lose its cultural hub.

Redbridge has precious little culture. Lets not make it a desert

This is what happens when the government cuts funding to local authorities. It's all part of the Tory mantra of small state, privatise everything and give tax cuts to be popular.

This is insanity to even think such a thing, let alone propose it. It is the sort of thing one expects from inner London Boroughs, not a respectable place like Redbridge. Council resources may be finite, but are there to serve the community. We should be thinking of the future of our Borough which we hold in trust for generations yet to come, not a short term cut. Please, please, please consign this madness to the dustbin where it belongs.

With all the time and money invested into this magnificient theatre it would be a great shame if it were to close in the foreseeable future

This Theatre must be saved it is too important and a huge asset to the community!

Such an important venue to the community, Been there often with my children as performers and in the audience, essential it is kept as a venue.

Absolute disgrace,Redbridge Council you should be ashamed , the last piece of heritage in the borough and you want to destroy it, save this important landmark

The Kenneth Moore Theatre is unique to Ilford. We go to the panto every year as a way of introducing our children to the performing arts. How else am I going to get my now 6 year old son to take me to the theatre in my dotage?

This theatre is far too important to too many people to lose.
