This is a petition to rename 99th Street
to " Earl Manigault Way." Earl was the Best Play Ground Basketball Player in the world for his time. The Goat Tournaments have been in existent since 1971. Earl started the Tournaments uptown on 118th street and Morningside Dr, and five years later moved it downtown to 99th street. The Tournament is named The Earl Manigault Walk Away From Drugs Tournament. Our son Darrin and I, Yvonne, are still running the Tournament. Nike has used the "Goat Park" for their Tournament Of Champions in honor of "The Goat." Earl dedicated his life to keeping the inner city children off the street in the summer. This was his way of giving back to the community. Earl had a lot of accomplishments that he fulfilled in his life. He was honored with the Earl Manigault Day plaque for numerous years; lots of plaque for his coaching and mentoring ability, his commitment to his Tournament for the children, and also a movie documentary called "REBOUND." The parks department has dedicated the 99th Street Courts to him, which is now called The Goat Courts. We have always called this park the "Goat Park." I am asking everyone to help me get this task accomplished by signing this petition.

The city officials continue to ignore our calls but this groundswell of support proves they cannot hide from the truth forever. We are turning this momentum into a demand that they stop stalling and finally honor The Goat.

Earl done so much for the kids uptown. It is only right that 99th street carries his legacy for the next generation. Keep the tournament alive!
The GOAT deserves this honor. Growing up watching those games changed my whole perspective on the game. Put his name on that street already.
