This petition is for the renaming of N. 1st street to Maria Benavides & Stafford Miller Way.
If you grew up in the city of Paterson, then there is a 99.9% chance that you went to CAMP YDP. This camp was founded by Ms. Maria and had this program not been available in our community, many of us would not have had the fun-filled childhood we all experienced. We did so much, from skating parties, field days at Pennington Park, field trips to Sandy Hook and getaways to over night camps. Many of our Christmas wish lists became reality through the ministries and schools that partnered with Ms. Maria and Mr. Stafford. Ms. Maria gave us excitement and adventure. Mr. Stafford gave us structure and accountability. Together, they gave us love, and experiences we would not have had without CAMP YDP.
So Paterson, Stand Up!!! Lets make this happen. Sign the petition

I have begun drafting formal requests to the city council to ensure our proposal is presented with the proper documentation. Thank you Amy Allen! This is way overdue for Ms. Maria and Mr. Stafford! I attended Northside Forces/Camp YDP Afterschool and Summer Programs and I have so many wonderful childhood memories of cultural field trips, swims at the beaches and pools, Camp Aldersgate... Yes, Let's make this happen Paterson!
I spent most of my childhood afternoons and summer days at Northside Forces and Camp YDP . The programs ran by Maria and Stafford made a huge impact in my life. I gained valuable work knowledge, training and learned the value of giving back. Forty (plus) years and two professional degrees later I credit my success to Maria and Stafford for instilling the value and a love of learning in me.
Come on everyone sign the petition Stanford and Maria gave me my first job as a counselor before I joined the military well done my friends wishing you both the best in all your endeavors
I am so grateful for Mrs. Maria and Mr Stafford Miller. They taught us more than education. We got nature, nurturing, discipline, religion. We learned cultures. Listen , as the kids say, "My childhood was lit"!!! My children even experienced them. I just want to publicly say "Thank you for giving me a lifetime of learning and friends. I love you both, very much".
To this day I’m still motivated through social media by Ms. Maria she not only gave that motivation to me but also to my son 30 years later. If that doesn’t speak volumes of the impact on the children who grew up in Paterson with the love they shared with the community not just the children the poor the hungry the people in need of services could get help from Rev. Stafford and Ms. Maria I will love them forever

This is a great thing. Ms. Maria and Mr. Stafford really deserve this honor. All of my children went to this camp. There were times when you just needed a little help Me. Maria always had an encouraging words to share. They were there for our kids and they were their for us. They have been a blessing to our community, and we love them. Thank you both for your contribution to my family
