I'm starting this petition in hopes that we can somehow save the Brooklyn Banks. The Brooklyn Banks is the legandary skatepark of New York. It is located directly underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. This park was and still is the only real(and free)skating park in the city. The city is looking to shut the park down and use it for storage space. This would mean the loss of a New York landmark. Its not just the park that has such significance to its skaters, it's the community that grew and still grows within its walls. I'm hoping that you or anyone else you might know will sign this petition and help keep this community alive. This park should be avaiable to todays youth as it once was for me and the thousands of others of skaters that rode its rails.

Skateboarding is beautiful. It's zen. Accept its grace and blessing and accept how a bird flies.

There are few places that skateboarders have had for so long and many famous skaters have visited. It's rare for a skatepark to be open over 20 years and even rarer for a street or DIY spot to do the same. It is also a rare gem whose terrain encompasses all styles and eras of skateboarding. The Brooklyn Banks represents where we came from.

grew up watching videos of people skating here. nyc would lose a huge part of its soul if they lock us out for good.
