This petition is to help rebuild the Ben Soto Skate park on Father Capadano Blvd located at Midland Beach Staten Island. The Ben Soto Skate park is falling apart and becoming dangerous to the community that uses it. With the growing number of Skaters and BMX Riders on Staten Island it would be in the PUBLIC's best interest to rebuild the park with a new concrete park. This would be much safer for the riders and would hold up much better in the harsh North East climates. Staten Island is the only borough WITHOUT a concrete skate park. They had recently built 2 skate plazas in Manhattan, 1 in Queens and 1 in Brooklyn. The borough President James Molinaro announced the plans to build a $1,000,000.00 skate park in Staten Island. By signing this petition you feel it would be better for the Skate and BMX community if the money were spent on the Ben Soto Skate park and the neighboring softball field which has visitors from all of the outer boroughs and has easy access to public transportation including the Staten Island Rapid Transit.
I was just looking at the count and we are almost halfway to 250 which is honestly wild since I started this on a whim but we really need a big final surge to get there today. If you guys could just shoot the link over to a few local riders or even a neighbor who walks by the old park it would help so much with the pressure we are trying to put on the borough president.

I just checked the dashboard and saw we passed one hundred people which honestly feels pretty surreal because I was worried nobody would even notice the park is rotting away. It is so cool that people actually care about getting a real concrete surface instead of these falling apart ramps and honestly if we just keep at it maybe someone at the Borough President's office will finally stop ignoring us.

I can see the numbers climbing toward one hundred and it really makes me think about how long we have been staring at those cracking ramps while everyone else gets fresh concrete. If you have a minute today please grab a link and drop it into a group chat because honestly the local officials need to see that we are not just going to sit around while the park falls apart.

Finally some talk about fixing up midland. That area has so much potential if they just put the money in.

Please rebuild this place. The current ramps are rusty and dangerous for the younger kids trying to learn.

The metal ramps are absolute garbage now. We need concrete before someone gets seriously hurt. Staten Island has nothing for us.

Staten Island kids deserve a place to ride that isn't falling apart. Concrete is the way to go.
