Hello everyone, I'm starting this petition to reach out to everyone to let you know that a UE family is in need of our help!!

As you may have seen on the news, Broome County Sheriff Sam Davis and his family have finally got the house that they have always wanted but unfortunately, due to some boundary lines, a portion of their house is in Tioga county. The Broome County legislators are saying they either have to move back to Broome County or Sam could lose his job!

The reason for this petition is to show support for this great family and to get the Broome County legislators to grant a residency waiver for the Davis family so they can stay in their home without Sam having to lose his job. These waivers have been granted in the past and I don't know why they won't grant it this time but hopefully with a lot of signatures from all of us, it might help change their minds.

So please take the time and sign it, this family needs our help!! They are well respectected in the community, a great family, and great friends of mine. So please, even if you don't know the Davis family but think this situation is wrong and the Broome County Legislators need to change their decision, sign it anyway.

We need to get as many signatures as possible to help them out!!! Once you sign it, please share it so we can get it out to everyone!!

Thanks and the best of luck to the wonderful Davis family!

Moving houses shouldn't cost a career. I am drafting my formal request to the legislators today.

I lived on the corner of Bornt Hill Road and E. CAmpville growing up. Technically our house was in Tioga Co, but we went to U-E schools and were definitely more Broome County than Tioga County. An arbitrary line should not mean a lack of common sense and justice.

I attended the legislator meeting and was shocked at the way the whole "discussion" went! There was really no discussion and one of the legislators called for a vote after agreeing to discuss and table it for s later vote. He knew exactly what he was doing! What an embarrassment !! Very unfair!

For the want of a few yards?! And the house is in a Broome County school district?! A travesty. And it's not just that this nonsensical action by the county legislature hurts the Davis family; it hurts the sheriff's department and all citizens of Broome County as well.

I know the Davis family and support them. Sam responded to a call at my house late one night. He is kind , professional and caring. It would be a very big loss for this community if this waiver is not granted.

Getting quality job applicants for law enforcement is challenging enough without having residency restrictions. Please approve a residency waiver for Sgt. Davis and retain a exceptional member of the Sheriff's department.

This family could have just moved in without a word, but because he is an upstanding individual, he applied in good faith. Common sense would be to honor the few feet involved in his case. What happened to treating people fairly, especially someone who serves others everyday with honor.

A county employee should not be penalized because a portion of their residence is in a different county, through no fault of their own. A residency waver would be the decent thing to do.

Broome county Sheriff Sam Davis should be allowed to keep his job.
