A county employee should not be penalized because a portion of their residence is in a different county, through no fault of their own. A residency waver would be the decent thing to do.

This seems very sad that because a portion of his gone is in another county he could lose his job. Sending good vibes too this man, his family and the entire community he proudly serves.

I had breakfast with my legislator and they're not going to change their vote. According to him if Sam wants the waiver he'll have to go to court to obtain one.

What it boils down to is that this legislation requiring "some" employees of Brome County to reside in Broome County needs to be reviewed. It started out as Resolution 82 of 1989, was amended by Resolution 510 of 1999, 570 of 2006 and 77 of 2011. So, it has been amended in the past and should be once again, Personally, I think it should be repealed. I'm sure Sgt. Sam Davis would still be able to get to work on time AND still have a better response time than some deputies who reside in Broome County in places like Deposit and Lisle.
Thank you Kim Myers for sponsoring this resolution, Mary Kaminsky for voting for it and especially to Greg Baldwin for having the common sense and courage to not vote your party line, but instead, do the right thing.

Sgt. Davis is an asset to the BCSO, for him and his family to be put through such unnecessary heartache is unacceptable!

This is wrong! IF part of the land is in Tioga County, and the other part is in Broome County, then they are still Broome county residents!
