According to the 2010 Census, 19.3 %, roughly 59,492,276 Americans live in rural areas. TDS TELECOM according to broadbandnow boasts of service across 32 states with the greatest coverage area in Wisconsin, Utah, and Tennessee. Based on coverage area, TDS is the 47th largest provider of DSL in the United States. However, that is not true for Perry County, Tennessee. Citing broadbandnow, 15 % in Tennessee are underserved, and I truly feel the full 15 % reside in the capacity outage areas in Perry County.
I lived in an underserved area of Perry County for 18 years. This means TDS DSL was to the left and to the right of my residence, but not at my residence. The family recently moved within county to a DSL supplied area. Yet, after signing up for the 1 mbps package, the only speed package available due to the capacity outage issue, there’s 20 issues in Perry County TN, population roughly 7,869 by the way, is at best, not the 1.0 speed I am playing for, but rather 0.42 most of the day. Why would I pay a DSL price for dial up speed and service? Why would anyone?
Mr. Wittwer, Mr. LaForge, Mr. Butman, Mr. Hess, Ms. Villacrez, Mrs. Hearn, Mr. Paker, Mr. Barber, Mr. Lawson, Mrs. Cefaluand, Mrs. Cindy Tomlinson, Associate Manager — Public Relations, 608-664-4471, and Mrs. DeAnne Boegli, Manager — Public Relations, 608-664-4428 as the faces of TDS Telecom, I speak not just as one stuck in one of the twenty capacity outage areas in Perry County, Tennessee, but for all underserved stakeholders. Will you please put aside all excuses and fix that which is broken? It is time for TDS to stand for Totally Dedicated Service.

TDS internet is by far one of the worst ISP's I have encountered. They are unreliable, dishonest (you do not get what you pay for), and over priced. Just twenty miles down the road, in Hohenwald, TN Charter Communications offer speeds up to 150 mbps. If there were any other options, the people of Perry county would not use TDS.
I speak for both libraries in Perry County, Tennessee. With TDS service, we struggle to meet minimum standards set for Tennessee public libraries. The Lobelville Library, in particular, gets slow speeds. We are charged with providing WiFi service for patrons who don't have access at their homes or can't afford it. We want to meet the standards and serve our community.
The service is so horrible it dosent pay to try to watch a video online. Every time it rains the phone service goes in and out along with severe static. Multiple complaints have been made. No results. I had a tds technician tell me that tds was aware of the slow intent problem and had no intention of fixing it. Said it was due to the servers being too small
Had 5mbs on signup, TDS overloaded the line w/too many Customers, Now below 1 MBS., Complained many times,TDS basicly says if You don't like it change to satellite service. What happened to Hi Speed internet for Rural Customers?
I live on one of the main highways going through Perry County and I am unable to get dsl. I am located exactly half way between Linden and Lobelville and receive flyers all the time wanting you to sign up for dsl but when you call they can't provide the service. I have two kids in college and one in high school and when they need to research something for their homework they can't.
Exceptionally poor quality! I'm forced to use my cell phone data plan (Verizon) rather than my tablet (TDS) just to Google info & receive my email. And trying to stream movies (Netflix, etc.) is a joke. I can only attempt one or the other....if I'm trying to stream a movie, I must turn my tablet Wi-Fi off. Ridiculous & I cannot wait to change.
Very slow service!

I have boxes on both sides of my residence but I cannot get DSL. I can get Extended Range DSL with a max speed of 768kb but in this day and sh who can get by with this? Especially when you have to have a base phone line and a monthly fee of $96 plus tax!
