We are residents and rate payers in Swakopmund. Most of us have been paying rates and taxes on our properties for many years. To our astonishment new residential areas are being built and tarred/interlocked roads are provided, and yet our roads remain salt roads.
We hereby request the Municipality of Swakopmund to take note of this petition and advise exactly when these roads will be tarred or interlocked.

I was just driving down a salt road and had to stop and wipe the dust off my glasses because it is getting really bad lately. It feels like the municipality is ignoring us while new pavement is laid down everywhere else which makes no sense if we are paying the same rates. My inbox is full of messages from neighbors who are sick of the constant repairs and the grit in their homes so I am gathering all these notes to drop off at the office again.

I honestly did not think this would gain so much ground so quickly because the salt roads have been an issue for such a long time that I think we all just got used to the dust. It feels strange but also really good to see so many people from Kramersdorf and the CBD finally saying enough is enough because maybe now the people in the municipal offices will actually have to notice us.

Central of Swakopmunf needs to be tarred or interlocked. Why all other areas and not the central Swakopmund ??? Are we paying rates and taxes for the other areas in s Swakopmund??
It is about time that after 30 years of taxpaying we get tarred/interlocking roads in Kramersdorf. It should be of utmost priority in Kramersdorf and Vineta before new devellopments.
Great initiative. Thanks to whoever started it. Might I add that should the old salt raods be correctly maintined and resalted, as was normal in the past, they are as good as tar roads. The old salts roads have deteriorated to the point that they are basically gravel roads. I agree that interlocking or tarring is long overdue, however while tenders are being awarded for this new work, just resalting will make an immediate difference. I am sure all the dust feom the roads is not very healthy at all!
Properties in new suburbs are mainly for speculation whereas properties in established suburbs are paying more taxes over a longer period.
Richthofen residents street are paying higher rates and taxes and we have still salt roads. Please attend to the problem

Scultetus street high risk area for school children as well as around Swakopmund Primary school. Need paved/tar roads with speed bumps to slow motorists down.
