We, the undersigned owners, residents, and concerned citizens, of the homes in the Coleman Addition Subdivision in Potosi, Missouri, respectfully request that our City Board of Aldermen take action to remove the derelict, condemned houses within our neighborhood.

Because these homes are in beyond repairable condition, they encourage unsafe and illegal activity in the subdivision. They are in such terrible condition that law enforcement officers cannot enter the premises safely to protect those living nearby. These houses also act as refuges to feral cats and various rodents; therefore, we do have reason to believe that our health is at risk.

Please listen to our concerns and take the necessary action to demolish these houses. Please help restore this subdivision to a safe, family-oriented place to live.

Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing so many neighbors rally behind this cause keeps me going. It is clear that we are all tired of living in the shadow of these properties and I refuse to let our concerns be ignored any longer.

A year and a half ago we where looking to buy a home on that road, and these houses concerned me.Who knows what's infested these homes, and also the homes around it.

Larry, I agree wholeheartedly. The great news is, there are grants for this kind of clean up that our city is able to obtain. The unfortunate news is, the property owner is not willing to approve this demolition, by signing off on the work; which also releases them from all demo fees. Instead he/she insist on challenging the city and costing us in municipal lawyer fees.

I live right across the street from these homes on Coleman ave. They should have been taken out long before now.

Although I prefer saving buildings/houses, if they can not be renovated, then they should be torn down. It isn't fair to other property owners to have to live next to these dilapidated buildings, not to mention losing value of their own homes.

These houses are an eye sore and I've seen teenagers, numerous times, entering these unsafe houses to do Lord knows what.

These houses are not only an eye sore in our community. But they are only welcoming to squaters. Open to potential meth labs or other drug sources and can be very dangerous to the youth in the neighbor hoods. They are falling in. They make the community look bad. They must go! #beautifypotosi #rebuildingcommunity
