Lets fine Stephen Burns, owner of 4940 Magnolia (63139)for fire & building violations. NO MORE EXTENSIONS !!! This magnificent three story victorian building (in Southwest Garden/ The Hill neighborhood) has been vandalized, is an eyesore and a safety hazard. Children play in the house and yard! After 3 years, major fire in 2003, former owner Theodore Wofford, and current owner (associate of Wofford) Stephen Burns, refuse to make necessary improvements - There are broken windows, missing windows, falling debris, overgrown yards and red wood on the front door - DO NOT TRESPASS. Don\'t let the empty dumpster fool you. Recipients of this petition are: homeowners, rehabbers in St Louis City, realtors, landlords, tenants, business owners, religious leaders/members, FireFighters, Metropolitan Police and area neighborhood association members/community groups. Landlords nearby cannot rent - property values nearby are in jeopardy. This is a LOSE, LOSE, LOSE for property owners, our city and landlords. The home was built in 1891 for a curator of the world renown Missouri Botanical Gardens, next to Tower Grove Park. Please lets get it back to its glorious days. This petition begs anyone who loves urban neighborhoods and wants to enjoy the URBAN renaissance in St Louis City to sign this petition. We ask the St Louis City Building Division to condemn building for demolition due to FIRE and fine the MAXIMUM number and MAXIMUM $$ amount to owner, Stephen Burns, 5822 Neosho, St Louis Hills, MO. Recipient of petition: City of St Louis Building Division, supervisor. Our deadline is 30 days: Dec 10, 2006.

Updates

November 13, 2006

The momentum is building and it is clear that our neighbors are finally fed up with the rot Stephen Burns has allowed to fester at 4940 Magnolia. Burns thinks he can ignore the hazards he created but this surge of pressure proves we are not going to let him slide any longer.

This place is a total dump. I walk my dog past it every day and it just keeps getting worse. Needs to be torn down before it falls on somebody.

Ridiculous that this has been going on for years. It ruins the whole block. Do your job city hall and get this eyesore cleaned up.
