Dear Fellow New Canaanites:

We need your voice to send a powerful message to town officials. We have recently learned through the town budget process that the Outback’s already low level of town funding is in jeopardy. This will negatively impact the longevity of the Center. Close to $2 million dollars was invested by parents and the community to build the facility 12 years ago and it would be a travesty to lose it.

Our elected officials are asking for evidence that the Outback is important to New Canaan and that its citizens support it. By signing this petition you are indicating that you value the Outback and consider it an important asset for our youth and community.

Side note regarding this petition:
Once you have submitted your "signature", IPetitions will take you to the next page. On said page, at the top, it will confirm that you have been added. BELOW that IPetitions has placed a "Donation" list.
Please be aware that you DO NOT need to do this in order to sign the petition. It is a voluntary donation to the host website. It is at your discretion, whether or not you do so. No donations made will go to The Outback or any entity associated with the Support the Outback movement. Thank you!

The OB is absolutely neccessary to provide our kids a safe venue through which to socialize, congregate, just hang out and stay off the streets (or the Mobile gas staion). We have 5 children and do appreciate the Outback.

Would be a terrible loss for the town and its youth. The Outback gave my son an important outlet and extracurricular respite in hi High School years. Closing the facility would be a terrible loss!

My son was on the SGB at the Outback for some years. It is a wonderful and necessary place for our youth to engage in early steps towards leadership and community involvement. I think we need to value the role the Outback plays in learning "organizing", as much as what is organized there.

Most towns around us fully fund their teen centers and New Canaan's town funding only covers a fraction of the teen center's operating costs. It is very difficult to provide all the services to the teens in the community when much of the focus has to be fundraising to simply cover ones operating costs.

The Outback offers unique opportunities for our teens that are not offered elsewhere in town eg backing and fashion design courses. It is also a much needed place for our teens and pre-teens to socialize in a safe and friendly environmentally. It is a sad indictment on our town that the pathetically small support it offers is going to be cut.

it's a wonderful place for teens & adults to come together, take a class, meet friends. i have thoroughly enjoyed teaching yoga there, and hope to continue being part of such a great community center/space.
