On 1st September 2013, the Learning Disability supported living service in Doncaster which cares for vunerable adults in their own homes was taken over by private company Care Uk. In the months that followed Care Uk have slashed the Terms and conditions of the employees who transferred over from the previous service provider - the NHS. Since February the dedicated workers have taken numerous periods of strike action, not only in defence of their Ts&Cs, but to demand a living wage for all employees and a meaningful pay rise across the board, yet this multi million pound company refuse to change their stance. The workers are not only fighting for themselves, but for the people they support and to put a stop to the continued privatisation of NHS services.
