The permit is officially approved and Shelter House No. 1 will finally serve our community as a restaurant again. Watching this piece of our waterfront history get a new life is a dream come true for me. I am looking forward to seeing the doors open soon so we can …
The undersigned fully support the efforts of Non-Flood Protection Asset Management Authority to return Shelter House No. 1 on the Lakefront of New Orleans to a commercial use as a seafood restaurant serving beer and wine as set forth in its application with the New Orleans City Planning Commission.
I walked by the lakefront today and looked at the boarded windows of the old shelter house. It breaks my heart to see such a historic landmark sitting empty when it could be a place for families to gather and enjoy the water again. We are working behind the scenes to prove that our community is ready to bring life back to this spot.

Seeing this level of backing for the restoration of Shelter House No. 1 confirms that our lakefront history still holds a special place in this community. I am truly moved by how many of you recognize the value in bringing life back to this historic space.

This will be a great asset to the Lakefront area. Affordable food in an outdoor setting, family friendly with a good breeze and fantastic view. Hurry and open.

I fully support this business at Shelter #1. It will be an asset to the lakefront. We need activity there, as well as our restrooms opened once again. Maggie & Smitty's was a wonderful place. I would welcome a venue like that once again.

I think this is a good idea and believe Mr. Wright will be a good neighbor and answer any concerns that may arise.

I remember the old Krupp's ... and it would be great to have a revival of that space for a food & beverage biz, again!

I am a lifelong resident and current property owner in northeast Lakeview as well as a part owner of commercial property in Lakeshore. I support private investment that will revitalize the Lakefront.

It would be a great step towards returning the area to a family atmosphere. It would also generate revenue for the city and and utilize a building that gets no use. A real win, win for the area.

Great idea. Better than the shelter sitting there rope off not being used. Maggie and Smitty's was a great place so could this.

Outdoor Facility doing seafood like what use to be sounds great and would bring people back to the lake front again! Its Time Has Come!
