Support our Emmett Street Project!
Situated in the heart of Logan Square, the Emmett Street Project will provide high quality affordable rental housing, ensuring that long-time residents continue to call the neighborhood home.
Developed by Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation and designed by Landon Bone Baker Architects, this transit-oriented development spans from two to seven stories, the heights are staggered and the building is set back from Emmett Street so that the building fits in with the neighboring residential structures.
The building will include:
- 100 units of quality affordable housing
- A mix of one, two, and three bedroom units
- Spacious lobby
- Onsite laundry facilities
- Community room
- Onsite Bickerdike Apartments Property Management & Maintenance Office
- Interior bike room and exterior bike racks
- Two elevators
- Approximately 4,500 square feet of commercial space facing Kedzie Avenue
The Emmett Street Project site is currently an underutilized City of Chicago owned parking lot that faces the southwest side of Emmett Street, west of Kedzie Avenue and northwest of the Logan Square CTA Blue Line station. The site is approximately 5.3 miles northwest of downtown.
The Emmett Street Project site is an ideal location for affordable rental housing. It will not only provide homes to residents who are at risk of displacement as rents continue to rise in Logan Square, but the proximity to public transportation will provide greater access to employment opportunities and to all that Chicago has to offer.

I started this because I genuinely thought only a few neighbors would care about that empty parking lot. Seeing how many people believe in this vision for our community has left me completely speechless.

I fully support the proposal for 100% affordable housing on the underutilized Emmett St parking lot.
Strongly support this project that will provide 100% affordable housing to working families in the Logan Square Community at a time when families are being displaced and gentrified. Thank you for your leadership Bickerdike - we support you!!
As a resident of Logan Square for 30 years (27 renting in the same spot), I have lost many beloved neighbors due to developer speculation and hikes in rent. I rent too, but my building is own by a couple of nice people who own the restaurant below me. I support affordable and low income housing in my area. I am sick of losing my longtime neighbors.
As someone who’s hitting 65 affordable housing is even more important to me. I hate to see neighborhoods be gentrified. So many areas I can’t afford anymore and I work too
I am in full support of this project. What a perfect location for affordable housing including apartments big enough for families. Our city and our neighborhood need much more of this.
As a grandmother who lives on a fixed income, I applaud you for starting this project. I am in support of this project, and would also like to be considered as a resident of this project site once it is completed. I live in the area within blocks of the United Center and seek to move to a nice area that is more affordable for individuals like me living on a fixed income. Thanks very much.

I grew up throughout the 35th ward-Logan Square, Albany Park and Hermosa, I want to raise my children here. I refuse to leave Logan Square but the struggle to pay the rising housing costs makes it hard to live here. The Emmett Street Project is my chance to continue to raise my children here in Logan Square.
