We are fighting to stop Comptroller Jason Mumpower from taking financial control over Mason, TN! He is perpetuating racism and harm against this majority-Black town as they prepare for an economic boom from the new Ford Motor Company plant.

Ford promised to work hard to “be a good neighbor” and enrich and give back to the local communities!

I really did not think this would gain this much steam so quickly but seeing the numbers climb makes me feel like we might actually have a fighting chance against Mumpower. It is just wild to see so many people finally paying attention to what is happening in Mason because for a long time it felt like we were just shouting into the void alone.

Save Mason, TN. DO NOT REVOKE THE MASON, TN CHARTER. CITIZENS OF DO NOT SURRENDER YOUR CHARTER. DON'T BE HOOD WINKED. THE REASONS THAT THE COMPTROLLER PRESENTS AS CAUSE TO REVOKE ARE NOT JUST. IF HE WAS TRYING TO BE JUST, HE WOULD SEND THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS TO JAIL FOR THE PROBLEMS THEY CAUSED, IMPLEMENT A PLAN OF RESOLVE AND INCLUDE THE MASON COMMUNITY IN THE NEW MASON, TN GROWTH PLAN WITH THE CHARTER IN TACT. DON'T HIDE THE PREVIOUS CRIMINALS THAT IMPERILED THE CITY CHARTER. #CRT
Moving the goal post for a community to recover from financial instability is unfair and wrong. This community needs support not dictatorship. They have an incredible opportunity to grow with the Ford Megasite and the state should provide resources and support to Mason to prepare. NOT take over control and remove local voices.
I think Mason shouldn't be taken over. The finances that were misused in the past shouldn't be the responsibility of the people who holds the present positions.
The attempt to take over Mason for the thievery of former Town officials is abominable! With all the resources taxpayers pay who were available to assist them (financial administrators, universities, MTAS), why is "takeover" the only solution! This is Greenwood, OK redux!!!
