Can there be any doubt that the homeless in Orange County are underserved and that providing a structured living environment will give the least fortunate of our citizens a reasonable opportunity to find gainful employment so that they can get back on their feet and become tax-paying members of society? Please go online and look at all of the community outreach and debate that occurred before the city decided on the current location of this homeless shelter. Some of the merchants in the KMart center are concerned that customers will stay away just because of the proximity of the shelter. Let's assure them that their concerns are unfounded, and that we will continue to patronize their establishments. Even if you don't live in the neighborhood, sign the petition to support the idea that we all must do our part to help others, and that you support the city of San Clemente recognizing this moral imperative and having the courage to do what's right.
