The Dorseys have been gardening for 10+ years on their property, with the entire left side of the garden being established for more than 5 years. It is our understanding that the Hammond's Mill HOA board does not regulate landscaping. We believe the Dorseys should be able to keep their garden as it currently stands. We sign this petition as neighbors in support of the Dorseys' garden.

Updates

September 18, 2020

I spent the afternoon documenting the history of the garden to present to the board. Direct your neighbors to this link and ask them to sign if they want to keep our community green space intact.

September 18, 2020

The momentum behind this garden is growing because people recognize that the HOA has no business telling the Dorseys what to plant. Send a direct email to your HOA board members today demanding they stop this harassment. Post this link on your neighborhood Facebook page so they know this community is watching their next move.

theyvare our neighbors and our backyard looks directly at their garden and we have no complaints at all! We see it more than anyone and we have no issues with their gardens!

I find the garden on this property attractive and pleasant to look at. I don’t think it’s a detriment to the appearance of our neighborhood in any way. Additionally, I think it sets a dangerous precedent allowing the board of directors to persecute someone for something that isn’t specified in the DCCRs as being on authorized.

Agarden is lanscaping, which is specifically excluded from micro-management by the abusive Homeowners Association. This type of petty harrassment must stop so we residents can enjoy our property.

We love driving by and seeing all of their beautiful gardens and plants. They have enjoyed gardening for many years and there is no reason for you to take that away from them now. It doesn’t make sense and there is nothing in the covenants that says they can’t have them.

Hammonds Mill HOA is bullying the members of this community who are good people. There is nothing wrong with their garden and they should have the right to grow food as they see fit on the land that they own. Our family has never been bothered looking at their garden every day!

We just moved from this development and the number 1 reason is the HOA harassment. Why on Earth would they suddenly tell you you can’t keep a vegetable garden on your own property?! I hope you win this.

The original DCCRs actually state that landscaping doesn’t need approval.
