Please sign if you are in support of adding a family friendly outdoor aquatic center in Verona, Wisconsin. We have a unique opportunity to use funding from the Epic TIF closeout. Below are a few words from one of our city alderman, Mac McGilvray.

Greetings All,
For those who don't know me I am an alderman in the City of Verona. It is at this time of year that the City staff is wrapping up what will ultimately be our 2017 City budget. Under the capital investment side of the equation I believe we are finally at a point when the City of Verona can financially support the building of an outdoor aquatic facility. There is some debate about the idea of improving the Fireman's park beach and including a splash pad at that location or a pool/splash pad project in another location. While I have enjoyed the beach at what it has to offer outdoor enthusiasts, I believe a pool project would better address the needs and wants of the Verona community.
With the closure of the Epic TIF district the city will not only be able to reduce the city portion of your tax bill we also will have some significant one time monies available for reinvestment in the community. We are crawling toward that first hundred mark and honestly seeing the name count climb makes me feel like this might actually happen. If you have been waiting for the right moment to nudge a neighbor or someone from the neighborhood association just do it now because this momentum feels fragile and we need to lock it in before the next budget review.

Aquatic center is good for all ages. Splash pads have limited use by young children. I have a three year old and a six year old and my children would love a splash pad but they would outgrow it quickly. A pool will not be outgrown.
I think a community pool that the kids can ride their bikes to and hang out w/ their friends is a foundational part of a childhood!! More than a splash pad!
I think this is a great idea. While we enjoy the Goodman pool off PD, because they run daycamps there, the pool does not open until late afternoon. Something similar to the Middleton pool would be awesome!!
We need a public pool in Verona! The Goodman Pool is not very useful since kids cannot get there without a vehicle and it is not open to the public during the day in the summer.
Would love for my kids to enjoy an outdoor pool in Verona. We traveled all over last summer to get into and give other communities our money.

I have Always been surprised with Verona's size that we do not have a pool to support a youth swim team. Youth from our community have to drive all over the county to swim. We drive to Oregon daily to be part of their swim club.
