Our
community stands at a pivotal moment, with an opportunity to greatly
enhance the recreational
facilities
available to its residents in
District 4 of
Walton County.
A local
aquatic center in
Walton
County
would not
only
serve as a hub for leisure
and fitness
for people of all
ages, but also as a venue for swimming
lessons,
school
Swim
Teams,
aquatic
therapy,
Lifeguard
training and
competitive
swimming events.
This would provide invaluable benefits to our area, promoting health,
safety, and community cohesion.
Currently,
residents in our area are deprived
of accessible aquatic facilities. Many must travel long
distances
to neighboring
towns
to access suitable swimming facilities, which is not
convenient or sustainable.
An aquatic
center in Walton
County
would encourage participation in healthful
activities,
increase water
safety awareness,
and provide a space for events
that bring us all together in the spirit
of community.
Building
an aquatic center is a financially
feasible
project, especially considering the significant return on investment
in terms of public
health benefits
and potential
revenue
from hosting regional
swimming competitions and events.
Additionally, it would provide summer
jobs
for young people and opportunities for local
businesses to
thrive.
The
county
commissioners
have the power to make this vision a reality.
We propose
allocating funds
from the county budget to ensure
the construction
and maintenance
of a modern
aquatic center
designed to meet
the needs
of all community
members.
Offering incentives to potential
sponsors
and partners
can further offset
costs
and enhance
amenities.
Above
all, an aquatic center will
enrich the lives of our residents.

I am 67 yrs old with both hips and 1 knee replaced. Swimming would be the best exercise for myself and, I imagine, a lot of other seniors in the county. Please give this petition serious consideration!!
We have a beautiful and wealthy community. And yet, our students have to be bused to another coastal community to participate in water sports, and our seniors have no year-round access to a heated pool for exercise. We must provide this community with access to a community pool.
It’s much needed for our entire community. When my son was in the swim team at South Walton High school we had to drive to Freeport at 4:30 in the morning so the kids could practice in their pool.
I definitely agree we need an aquatic center here in Santa Rosa Beach, my 2 children are swimmers and I have to drive either to PCB Frank Brown or to Destin, both places are 1 hour away from where we live. That would be so beneficial to residents of all ages to have an aquatic center in SRB.
Instead of more car washes, storage facilities, condos & houses, SRB would benefit from an Aquatic Center for our community!!
We need a pool for our kids!

This is long overdue! I drive to Freeport, Destin, or Panama City to swim with my granddaughter. Which costs a lot of time, especially in traffic, and money. Everyone that is not wealthy enough to afford their own pool, or belong to an HOA that has a pool is deprived of exercise, fun, socialization, and the ability to learn valuable and lifetime skills.
