We, the undersigned residents of Martin Acres, support the revisions regarding ADU's currently under consideration, which would allow more homeowners to incorporate legal, safe, and affordable ADU's into their homes.

We reject the notion that Martin Acres as a whole - or even a majority thereof - is opposed to the changes, and are concerned that certain members of City Council have cited opposition from Martin Acres as a rationale for opposing changes to proposed revisions regarding Accessory Dwelling Units. We reject this rationale.

Although certain residents of Martin Acres (including members of the Martin Acres Neighborhood Association Board) are particularly outspoken in their opposition to the proposals, those individuals' perspective should be treated as exactly that - the views of individuals, and not of the neighborhood. We do not consider those individuals to speak for Martin Acres as a whole.

I have been hearing from so many of you who just want more options for your families and your neighbors. It is frustrating to watch a few vocal board members claim to represent the entire spirit of Martin Acres when so many of us desire a more welcoming approach to housing. I am currently reaching out to council members to ensure they understand that our neighborhood is far more diverse in opinion than they have been led to believe.

Seeing this level of support confirms that our neighborhood is much more diverse in its thinking than some on the City Council want to believe. It is heartening to see so many of my neighbors step forward to ensure our collective voice is finally recognized.

Adapting to population growth and the associated environmental consequences requires denser living, even in Boulder!

I am for one or two people being able to live in basement apartments or ADU’s built onto a house to hold one or two people or even tiny houses built into backyards that house one or two people. But not the giant “co-op on Ingraham court that holds from 12-16 people with no where to park.

Our family recently bought a home in Martin Acres. For us, the only way this home is "affordable" is by factoring in possible rental income once we convert the 2-car garage. We plan on still occupying the main house, but in order to stay here we will need additional income. We will be converting the garage without changing the footprint of our home. There is plenty of parking on our street even though the neighbors next door have 4 cars. We--a family of four--have one.

I am in favor of the lessening the restrictions to the ADU laws!
