This petition seeks to install a crosswalk, with a corresponding sign, on Edge Hill Road at the intersection with Garden St.

The streets along Edge Hill Rd. from East Milton Square to Cunningham Park are densely populated, and the sidewalks are well used by residents to walk to the schools, parks, restaurants, and local businesses. In addition, there is a popular bus stop at the corner of Edge Hill Rd. and Governors Rd. used by over a dozen Pierce Middle School and Milton High School students during the busy morning rush hour.

Yet, there are no crosswalks between Grafton Ave. and Westvale Rd., a full half mile stretch. As a result, Milton pedestrians can be seen walking and running across Edge Hill at various locations. This puts both the pedestrians and drivers at risk. With parked cars, sun glare, and other obstacles blocking their view, unsuspecting drivers may not be able to see crossing pedestrians.

An additional crosswalk on Edge Hill Road will encourage greater safety for both drivers and pedestrians and help to guide more predictable behavior. Drivers will become accustomed to looking for pedestrians at this particular location, and, hopefully, pedestrians will funnel their crossings to correspond with the crosswalk.

I honestly cannot believe how fast this is moving and seeing so many people agree about the danger at Edge Hill has been wild. It feels like we are finally getting somewhere with the traffic safety concerns that have been ignored for far too long.

It defies logic that there should be such few crosswalks along this long and busy stretch of Edgehill Road. A crosswalk at this location would go a long ways to counter this illogical lack of crosswalks. Common sense and basic safety concerns both demand that this situation be rectified without delay. Thank you.

I use a motorized wheelchair and would greatly appreciate the added safety of the crosswalk as well as smoothing out the sidewalks on the school side. The cracks making the blocks uneven will stop the chair like a brick wall. If not wearing a seatbelt I've been thrown off the seat. a few times but with the seat belt it is still a tipping hazard for the chair. I called Katie Conlin recently who said she'd check into it. I'll call again. She seemed concerned.

Strongly agree on need for crosswalk at this intersection especially due to bus stop - drivers are unclear on rules regarding divided roadway on whether they have to stop for school bus going in opposite direction when there is a divided roadway - I always stop but get yelled at by drivers behind me who say I am not required to stop on a roadway divided by an island. I prefer to stop for safety of children but not all drivers adhere to this!!!! Also rep at school traffic commission told me that cars are not required to stop on divided roadway - clarity needed for the safety of our students!

Agree cross walk with sign is needed there. Lots of kids crossing over both lanes of Edgehill to get to the bus stop. There is no designated crossing area and heavy traffic especially in the morning. .

As the parent of a middle schooler who needs to cross Edgehill every school day to get to the bus stop, I know how badly this is needed!

Any crosswalk is a good crosswalk in my book. I'm a nanny in Milton and often walk with the kids I watch. It's safety first. Always. To have to walk a half a mile on edge hill seems ridiculous. And the cars FLY on that road. I'm all for it.

It can be treacherous trying to cross Edge Hill Road. I think it's a very good idea.

This makes perfect sense for such a busy area!
