Crossing Park Road on the south side of 410 is dangerous due to the length of the crossing, speed of traffic turning onto Park Avenue,* and poor visibility for east bound drivers coming uphill. Because of the angle of this intersection, drivers often do not use turn signals—giving pedestrians no warning. We worry about the safety of all pedestrians, but especially our children traveling to school.
We want the City of Takoma Park to add a crosswalk and features that induce traffic calming for traffic turning onto Park Avenue*—preferably shortening the distance to cross.
*Please note: This petition has been amended to correctly state Park Avenue instead of Park Road.

The city council can no longer ignore this surge of pressure regarding the lethal conditions at Philadelphia and Park. Your demand for traffic calming has finally pushed this onto their radar and we are not backing down until the concrete barriers and crosswalks are installed.

Agree this intersection is dangerous for walkers. A crosswalk with bulbs to decrease the crossing distance would help.
We also need to make visibility better for cars entering Park Ave from Valley View, just uphill from Philadelphia. Removing vegetation and requiring cars to park further back from the Valley View intersection are badly needed.
I've watched children sprint across this intersection without looking and cars zoom into it off Philadelphia. It needs something to make it more safe
5 Philadelphia here - walking my young daughter to/from her preschool is scary at this intersection.
I live at the referenced intersection - 29 Philadelphia - with my 3.5 year old son. I believe traffic calming for those entering Park off Philadelphia is urgently needed to protect lives, prevent injury and/or reduce anxiety.
Seems like a clear error that no sidewalk exists here. Drivers, even those obeying traffic laws, have no visual cue that pedestrians might be in the road.
This is such a dangerous intersection, and for people trying to cross Park, there's no safe way to do it.

My kids and I walk here all the time. Cars and trucks race up Philadelphia and often turn on Park without looking or signaling.
