The Cambrian teachers are in negotiations with the school district this year for their salaries. We are signing this petition to support our teachers. Their request for a salary increase that puts their pay closer in line with other districts in our region is reasonable and necessary. Retaining our teachers is a priority for parents and we ask that the Board of Trustees of the Cambrian School District also PRIORITIZE teachers in its upcoming budget.

Why do the teachers need our support?

Our teachers are among the lowest paid in Santa Clara County. The teachers deserve to be paid at a level that is comparative to other districts in our area or we will start to lose our amazing teachers to those districts.

I really thought this might just be a small thing that petered out after a few days but looking at how many people are showing up now honestly makes me want to cry in the best way possible. It turns out so many neighbors actually care about keeping our teachers right here where they belong. Now we just have to make sure the board actually feels the pressure of all these people watching them.

My daughter went to Baby. It is shocking to me that the District can justify not paying our Cambrian Teachers competitively. They want to remain a top school and yet they are unwilling to pay teachers a salary that allows them to work and live in this area. We can do better!

Teachers cannot afford to continue living in San Jose on their below average salaries. The Cambrian School District will loss good teachers if there’s no significant increase to match neighboring school districts.

We have had money left on the table for the last five years, so much that the district could have afforded raises in the double digits.Teachers in this district use their own funds to basically subsidize the district. It’s a shame, used to be a Great Place to Teach.

Cambrian teachers could go 5 miles in any direction and get paid substantially more. This will start to happen if an appropriate raise doesn't happen, and Cambrian will not be the same without these teachers. Investing in teachers is investing in students.

The teachers deserve this raise because they have worked harder in the last two years than any other time in the district. The district has the money in reserves and needs to provide teachers with a living wage. When you invest in teachers you are investing in students.

We live in an area with one of the highest costs of living in the country. If we are unable to retain our high quality teachers, families will choose to elsewhere, whether it be private schools or leaving the area. Without competitive salaries for teachers, there will be an exodus of teachers and following that, an exodus of students.

It's imperative that teachers are paid equally and competitively to recognize the value and impact they bring to the students and school district each day.

Cambrian teachers deserve so much more then what they are being offered. It’s so sad.
