Please sign this petition to show your support of a new crosswalk at 5th Ave. and Marion Rd. near Moore Middle School. This crosswalk is needed to keep students safe as they enter the school's gate on 5th. The nearest crosswalk is on the east side of the gate (at 5th and S. Dearborn St.) so students are tempted to dart across the street instead of doubling back after crossing at S. Dearborn. A very dangerous situation! We live by Crafton Elementary and my son will go to Moore this summer. Please help keep him safe on the way to/from school
Cars fly down this road. Student walk 5 minutes out of their way to Ford or Dearborn to safely cross at the stop signs.
We live off of Marion and I have never let my kids walk to school because it is so unsafe to cross. Drivers race by and could care less that there is a school there
A crosswalk is definitely needed at 5th and Marion! The traffic is so fast on that stretch and there are so many kids this would help!
This street is not safe for crossing for our students. There is significant space between the only 2 stop signs. Cars come around a curve quickly from Ford.
Students need to stay safe!

I fully support this petition for the safety of the students at Moore Junior High. I live next door to Moore on Redlands Street and have witnessed an enormous amount of drivers go through the stop signs at the intersection of Redlands St./Lincoln and Highland St. without any regard to students waiting to cross at the corners. I can imagine how challenging it is to cross the street from Marion Rd. and 5th St. Traffic is typically heavy there on a regular basis and drivers can easily be distracted or un-attentive. Let's not wait until we have a serious injury or fatality.
