Please help keep our children safe. We need a stop sign at Kenneth Rd and San Jose Avenue so that our parents and children may cross the street safely to get to school. Please join us in the fight to keep our families safe.

I watched in horror this morning as a car almost hit a little boy in the intersection of Kenneth and San Jose Ave.

Both of my children have almost been struck by a car in the last few years walking to school in that intersection. I have seen it many times. I feel like this crosswalk without a stop sign is a tragedy waiting to happen.

I spoke with Ken Johnson, the Assistant Public Works Director this morning. I begged and pleaded to have them come out to view traffic control. They will be reviewing this week.

The city of Burbank recently received more than $800,000 in federal grant assistance for pedestrian and traffic safety upgrades. This is a perfect time to confront this issue.

If we have enough parents show up to the next city council meeting (Footloose style) with enough signatures, we should be able to get it done! I hope you can join me in this important fight to keep our kids safe.

Please sign the on-line petition. People that are interested in signing the petition should post to their Facebook page and forward the petition to all of their friends, family and co-workers in an email as well.

Thank you!

I have lived in Burbank for 15 years. This intersection needs a stop sign. I have had two near accidents because other drivers assume there is a stop sign for North - south running traffic. Very dangerous and just a matter of time before a child gets seriously injured or killed.

My children have been part of an "almost accident" at this exact stop! A car accident happened on this corner as my children were walking home. My friend had to literally knock the kids out of the way, even though they were "safely" on the sidewalk. We have needed this for years! Thank you Courtney!

I live on San Jose and always avoid this intersection due to the lack of stop signs. My sisters go to Emerson and I worry that they may be at risk. Only good can come from making it a 4 way stop. Thank you.

A year ago I pushed 5 children away from this intersection I avoid being hit by a car which had just been hit by another car because it is not a four way stop! It was terrifying!! I have witnessed more similar incidents in the years that I have lived here and had Children walking to school!

I've had a incidents at this intersection as well. Unfortunately, some drivers already think there is a sign on this corner, and stop. Some don't. That ambiguity of expectation is the most dangerous aspect of this corner. A stop sign, while it will slow the flow of traffic on this street, is a good way to reduce the confusion that occurs on this corner.

I agree that corner has been a problem for years. If not a stop sign perhaps a blinking cross walk or something. Something definitely needs to be done. I myself almost got hit crossing. Everybody is in a hurry to turn and drop off their kids. Even in the afternoon drivers go way too fast by the school

This is a long time coming. Can't believe there hasn't been one here the whole time the school's been there. I'm all for this. Or at least another crossing guard!
