The school of accounting at UKZN has once again changed the rules regarding prerequisites. students who fail Acct211 or Acct212 or both will no longer allowed to do auditing 300 or Maf 300 even if they passed auditing and MAF 200. In the past students were allowed to proceed with auditing and MAF and still passed so why shouldn't we? Failing accounting is already a big enough set back with this new rule we will only be allowed to do accounting next year which means if you failed only one semester than the other semester will consist of no modules. if we are allowed to continue with MAF and Auditing then our work will be equally divided and it wont be such a huge setback. If rules could be changed previously to allow auditing and MAF to continue then it should be changed again!

The fact that accounting is semesterised has changed our careers drastically when it was a year mark it was basically and average mark of two semesters so if you did well in one semester and bad in another dps were averaged and students had greater chances of passing our acct211 and acct212 marks should be balanced also!

Students who failed acct211 were allowed to complete acc212 and proceed with auditing and maf so why arent students who failed acct 212 allowed to do the same? why must we be punished when the other students arent

The school of accounting needs to be fair to all students if they could make an exemption for students previously then they should do the same for all students. sign the petition and email the link to the academic leader or deen. we need to do this or we maybe disadvantaged. i know not everyone will be in this situation but i do request you to still sign it

Thanks
