The John Carroll School's administration has decided to change the skirt policy for the 2016-2017 school year, outraging many female students. Administration's goal of having all skirts touch the knees is unrealistic and impractical. Many female students will be forced to buy brand new skirts, even seniors who have less than 9 months at JC. Even with these new guidelines, girls will continue to wear short skirts, and once a few students get away with short skirts the rest of the female student body will follow. Administration can not crack down on every single girl in the school for having what they consider an "inappropriate" length. Here is a petition of everyone who is against this new policy.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained so quickly. This whole thing belongs to all of you who decided to speak up about how unfair these new changes feel.

unfortunately, many of the students are still growing. The skirts that are the right length in 16/17 will be too short in 17/18. We cannot afford to buy skirts on a yearly basis.

I'm not paying for a new skirt so they can give me as many detentions as they want

It is unfair for the people who followed the 3 inch rule the first time to have to buy new skirts.

Like legit this hole skirt thing is basically sexist. The amount of time the guys have gotten away with breaking the dress code is uncanny. JC needs to stop being sexist.

It is completely unnecessary that the girls should be punished by having to wear their skirts this long. I say punished because you claim it is because of complaints from people inside and outside the community. First of all, why do opinions of people outside of the community matter. JC knows what it stands for so why are you listening to useless opinions. Second of all, this IS a punishment because you are asking girls to pay for a BRAND new skirt for their LAST year of highschool. Where are the boys restrictions? If you're so worried about skirt length then you should be paying for them not the students or their parents who work tirelessly to send them to JC.

I just have to say that a lot of people have had their skirts and have bought skirts so it can last them a couple years. I do not intend on buying a new skirt for my senior year because yes, the skirts are a bit pricey and my parents are paying enough to send me to jc.

It's because all the girls look like they are about to FILM a PORNO in their uniform.
