I was thinking the other day about how unfair it was that I was asked to keep my skirt below my knees when I was at school. It's sad that this is still an issue today. The message it gave me when I was young was that I needed to cover up if I wanted to be respected - this was a harmful message that took time to unlearn. I understand there's nuance to this campaign but I'm so glad these girls are fighting to be respected whatever they choose to wear!

I’m sorry but this is absolutely insane, as backed by the force Majeure of 30 degrees heat. In a world going mad this is very ‘Handmaids Tale’. Whatever next!!

This is a regressive response to an issue. Boys needs to be educated about correct behaviour. The message this uniform change sends is dangerous- boys are not responsible for their behaviour - it's the fault of the girls. It reinforces the dangerous idea that it's a girl's fault for dressing in a way that prompts a certain response. This could lead to girls feeling shame if assaulted in future (they deserved it, due to their clothing choice), and boys not taking responsibility for their behaviour. The school must direct change towards those who need it, not shift blame onto women for male misdemeanours.

This is an outrage and actually discriminatory - so much for the empowerment of girls! We must stand firm and take action - contact Bristol City Council. Also, Cotham, you are losing the support of children and parents on this one - such a shame, will never feel the same about/support the school again!

Ridiculous to ask kids to wear skirts that date back to the Victorian era. Totally uncomfortable, impractical and unfair. Parent of student.

Instead of enforcing outdated dress codes that stifle our girls' expression, we should be addressing the root of the issue: changing the attitudes that lead to objectification.

The overtly woke politically correct lunatic Butler is not to be trusted nor any of her ilk. Freedom for our male and female kids!

We need to fight for women's rights. Starting for the little girls. Enough is enough
