We, the undersigned, petition that we object to the proposed route changes for Passport B and explicitly do not want any bus or Passport routes through or via Eliot Street between Colorado at the Fire Station and Bellflower to the east for one or more of the following reasons: 1. Eliot was not designed to handle this type of traffic. In fact we have been working with Councilman Gary DeLong's office and the City of Long Beach Traffic Engineer to slow traffic down on the street. No ingress or egress should be considered on this small residential two-way street. 2. The area is exclusively residential with single family residences and is without any retail shops or student housing rentals. The homeowners in Spinnaker Bay, Spinnaker Coves, Bayshores, Del Lago, Bay Harbor, La Rochelle, Windward Point, Alamitos Heights and Pacific Villas would be negatively impacted. 3. Park safety - the street is narrow and curvy with many activities that include young children. 4. The street is currently burdened with car commute traffic (upwards of 3,000 cars per day), and the No. 14 Fire Station uses Eliot for nearly every call in both directions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This creates transmission and gasoline emissions that are very unhealthy. 5. The current traffic does not comply with the speed limit or stop at the cross walks. 6. Parking is already limited in the area. This change will encourage CSULB students to drive their cars to our neighborhood, park them and then take the Passport to the CSULB campus. 7. Proposed stop at Ultimo and Eliot is a safety hazard for Spinnaker Coves residences and specifically impacts 29 units, vendors and oil company personnel coming in and out of the driveway. There would not be any visibility when the bus is stopped. 8. The area is heavily trafficked year round with recreational activities that would be negatively impacted by the bus emissions and increased traffic.
