Petition to the City of Vancouver Traffic Management Branch to exclude independent tour bus access to Fir Street + West 1st Avenue
The northernmost (1700) block of Fir Street and the 1600 block of West 1st Avenue is a mixed neighbourhood of residential and small business, with a community garden and well-used access to walking and bicycle paths. The corner includes 4 stop signs: a 3-way T-junction stop sign for traffic heading north, east and west, and an additional, angled T-junction stop sign for north and south bound traffic.
In the past few years, this neighbourhood has seen increased traffic from independent tour bus operators, operating a variety of large, older, retrofit buses. The buses create noise and exhaust fumes. The noise is due to vehicle type, idling at stop signs, acceleration after the stop signs, and the tour operators' use of loud-speaker systems.
We the undersigned ask the City of Vancouver Traffic Management Branch to:
• establish a route for independent tour bus operators that excludes access to the 1700 block of Fir Street and the 1600 block of West 1st Avenue

The City of Vancouver Traffic Management Branch refuses to acknowledge the daily chaos these tour buses bring to our doorsteps. This surge in support proves we are fed up with the exhaust and noise polluting our neighborhood and we are not backing down until they redirect these vehicles.

Keep the big buses on the main roads. My kids are trying to play outside and these things are driving way to fast for a residential zone.
Loud speakers in a quiet residential area? Totally unnecessary. Find another route.
Finally someone is doing something about this. So tired of these retrofitted death traps rumbling past my window all day long.
Ridiculous that these massive buses are allowed on these small side streets. They shake my whole house every time they pass by.
Sick of the exhaust fumes when I walk my dog. These streets aren't built for tourism. STOP IT.
