We, the undersigned hereby vehemently opposing the utilization of Marquez ave in Pacific Palisades as a route for Route 9 for the Big Blue Bus . We believe that it poses many negative effects and safety concerns for the community on and around Marquez Avenue. By traversing Marquez Ave, the Big Blue Bus is passing by homes, small businesses, 2 preschools and one Elementary school, Marquez Elementary. On every single weekday, there are hundreds of young, school aged children that are exiting their cars and crossing Marquez Ave. to get to and from school. Marquez Ave. is not a main through street that is equipped to safely handle the Big Blue Bus along with cars parked on both sides and heavy pedestrian traffic. Accordingly, we are urging the LADOT to cease and desist the utilization of Marquez Ave as a bus route. It is in the best interest of the school community and residential community for LADOT to expedite its review and approve the route, keeping Big Blue Bus at Sunset and Marquez. Once LADOT approves an acceptable alternative, Big Blue Bus can stop its detour within 24 hours.
