BDC are still not listening to us. They claim the majority of the Braintree community approve of the proposed Town Centre development. Yet only 600 responded to the Council's questionnaire, where as 1,457 signed the original petition against it. The "consultation process" did not offer the public the option to say NO to this development and the questionnaires only asked if we prefer design One or Two. Yet after the STOP! Campaign began, the on line questionnaire was altered to provide this question, but the paper version did not change. Despite this process being fatally flawed, plus Cllr Butland and Ex Cllr Nigel Harley stating we have a Third Option to say NO and to go back to the drawing board, we have not been granted this and the request to do a fresh consultation, with this option included, was denied.
We, the undersigned, petition Braintree District Council to declare the Braintree Town Centre Development Consultation null and void and to provide the THIRD OPTION, to say NO to the development and to go back to the drawing board.
The council keeps ignoring our requests for a fair process despite the obvious flaws in their consultation. I have been spending my nights compiling the feedback from those of you who feel unheard and I will not let them pretend this project has the support they claim.

Seeing this momentum grow proves that our community refuses to be ignored by a council that pretends our concerns do not exist. It feels incredibly validating to know so many of you see right through this flawed process and demand a real choice.

Listen to the people for once. BDC are doing whatever they want without caring about the community. Go back to the drawing board.

This whole process has been a total sham from the start. We deserve a real choice instead of being forced into these ugly plans. Stop ignoring us!
