STOP STROLLER CLOSE DEVELOPMENT PART 3 – THE FIGHT STILL GOES ON!!
THIS AFFECTS ALL RESIDENTS OF OUR QUIET CUL-DE-SAC ESTATE. WE MUST STOP THE OVER-DEVELOPMENT OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE! PLEASE SHARE WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
Planning Application: 17/00942/FULD (Previous applications 16/02044/FULD & 16/03473/FULD)
Re: Proposed development of two Bungalows at the rear of 258 & 260 Benham Hill, Thatcham ACCESSED FROM STROLLER CLOSE.
Following our previous TWO efforts to prevent the over development of our quiet cul-de-sac estate and the subsequent withdrawal of BOTH planning applications –THE DEVELOPERS ARE BACK AGAIN FOR A THIRD TIME with yet another revised application to build two bungalows in the back gardens of properties that are not part of our existing estate but are proposing to access these new buildings via STROLLER CLOSE a quiet but heavily congested cul-de-sac within our estate thus having no impact on the greedy landowner or developer but having an immensely detrimental impact on the quality of life of the residents of Stroller Close and the wider estate.
Many residents have raised their objection to this development on the West Berks Council planning website highlighting the following concerns:
- Loss of parking amenity for existing residents
- Increased traffic through the estate
- Increased parking on adjacent roads, blind corners, verges, pavements and opposite driveways
- Additional vehicles parking in the estate
- Refuse collection access RESTRICTED
- Emergency vehicle access RESTRICTED
- Impact on residents quality of life and the enjoyment of their homes and surrounding area
- Over development of the estate
- Increased risk to safety and wellbeing of children, elderly and others due to increased traffic flow and dangerous parking
- Residents already having to convert front gardens into parking due to current volume of vehicles and inadequate on street parking
Please take the time to register your objection to this development with the council at:
www.westberks.gov.uk/planning or http://[email protected] entering the application number listed above.
Please also show your support by signing our NEW petition to help us stop the over development of the area and to send yet another message to these ‘I’m alright Jack’ landowners and greedy developers.
We really do need your support yet again to show these people that our concerns are genuine and that we will not be ignored!

The developer thinks we will just roll over after their third attempt but this surge of support proves they are dead wrong. We are forcing these greedy landowners to pay attention to the neighborhood they are trying to ruin.

This proposed development will cause undue stress, detrimental effect upon the residents and further parking issues. Seems rather unfair considering residents like ourselves are paying to convert lawns into driveways to help ease the congestion!
We still have the same objections to building ANYTHING in the small cul-de-sac Stroller Close. The impact of construction traffic, loss of parking, difficulty in getting into Stroller Close or even trying to use this as a turning round point is impossible, We have the proposed building of 47 "lifetime homes" 15/03468 on the Veolia site. 30 Flats on Lower Way, how many more building projects can this small area take. Enough is enough.
I am a resident on the estate and I strongly oppose this ridiculous development. The negatives far-outweigh any gains if this was to happen: additional traffic and parking issues, noise, lack of privacy, reduced child safety and other. I do not know of a single resident here who would be happy for this to go through. It is a simple decision of NO DEVELOPMENT
This area on the estate is already over congested. If a land owner wishes to sell off part of their back garden (or developer in this instance) access should not be foisted on other other properties for their financial gain. This is a wholey inappropriate proposition that will just make life intolerable for existing residents.
It is quite unbelievable that this example of greed and uncaring attitude towards those who will be affected has reared its ugly head again. This development should not be allowed to go ahead, for the sake of the safety and wellbeing of the Stroller Close inhabitants and the people who already use the busy roads around it.
I am strongly against this planning application.
I dont support or entertain the plan build of the development with access via stroller close. Which will cause parking issues and lose of property value due to out of character plan.

As a resident on this estate, I oppose this development which will only increase the traffic & parking issues we already have; also would increase the possibility of a serious accident when drivers & pedestrians, most probably a child are unable to see clearly when crossing the road.
