It has been brought to my attention the Woodhaven Lakes Board of Directors is considering a special assessment to all lot owners. This assessment has been rumored to be as much as $100 per lot. We, the undersigned property owners of Woodhaven Lakes would like to request in the light of the tornado that ravaged our park on June 22nd all funding for capital improvements with exception of the road improvements are redirected to tornado relief in lieu of a special assessment. We believe the funding for the Nature Center / Bait shop, Pool 2 improvements and restaurant / store improvements (and equipment) can be better utilized for tornado relief funding.

Further, it is our belief that many of our property owners have already suffered financial hardships because of the storm and a special assessment will only create additional hardships. Our property owners have been working with friends, neighbors and complete strangers in order to clean up our properties to minimize further hardships and feel a special assessment negates the work we have done. Any additional funding requested at this time from the board could result in negative consequences to the entire membership including more abandoned lots, additional properties for sale or deeds handed over which affects future dues to ALL property members.

We are not requesting any funding stoppage for any of the ongoing activities or operations of Woodhaven Lakes, only those improvements that are not necessary to maintain services at the current level for the remainder of the 2015 and 2016 camping seasons.

While we understand the desire for constant improvement, we also believe the needs of our community have changed due to this catastrophe.
