This petition will be presented to the Regimental Association and it's members to demand that the prefix "Ex" is not used in any shape or form when referring to the veterans of the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment. ie exDERR, exDuke etc. and to actively discourage the use within the Regimental family As the Regiment no longer exists we are the Regiment, we are it's history, we made it what it was. We served the queen and the colours of the Regiment toearn this respect. We deserve the recognition. We deserve the sense of belonging. From the collins dictionary Definitions prefix out of; outside of; from ⇒ exclosure, exurbia former ⇒ ex-wife Surely niether of these definitions apply to the veterans of the Regiment Also by signing this petition you too agree to stop using the prefix "Ex" as well

I am truly humbled by the response to this, as it shows just how many of you feel the same deep connection to our shared history. This momentum belongs entirely to you and your commitment to honoring the service of every person who wore the uniform.

Once a Duke always a Duke. This prefix is disrespectful to the men who gave so much.

Totally agree. Disrespectful to the history and the men who wore the cap badge.

About time someone said something. It really grinds my gears when people use that term.

My husband served and he hates that word. He earned his place in the regiment and that never goes away.
