This petition has been set up against the decision made by David Ford and the ministry of justice to refuse the gratuity payout to 41 of the 6000 Part Time Reserve's of the RUC. The reason given by David Ford is that applications were received late. The cut off date for applications was 4th February 2011 and the original date for payouts was end march 2011. The payout date has now been changed 2 the end September 2011. Even if the applications were received late (which we believe they were not) why can their claim still not be accepted as the payout date has changed by nearly 6 months. The only notification that Part Time Reserve's could claim this money, came in 2 small adverts in the Belfast telegraph. What about the Part Time Reserve's who don’t read this paper or who could have been out of the country at the time?? Surely common sense and understanding should prevail here. After all, they still served their country and community well in the face of the harshest adversities. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION Yours in the cause of justice!

The feedback I continue to receive underscores how many individuals were never properly informed about the application window. I am currently preparing a formal correspondence to challenge these administrative decisions directly with the ministry.

The momentum behind this petition highlights the widespread recognition that these individuals were not given a fair opportunity to claim their gratuity. I am encouraged to see so many people acknowledge the service provided by these officers. We must ensure that common sense prevails in this matter.

I hope they get what they are owed. Putting a small advert in one paper is a joke. They served this country well.

Absolute disgrace. These men put their lives on the line for years and this is how they get treated? Typical gov move.

My brother served and he never heard a word about this. Totally unfair to exclude them like that. Give them their money!

Should have been sorted a long time ago. What a load of rubbish the cut off date is when the payout got delayed anyway.

They deserve every penny. Don't let them get away with this.

Disgusting treatment of our veterans. Shame on them.
