I actually can not believe I am typing this but the board finally agreed to match our compensation to the county average and I am just staring at the email in complete shock. You guys stuck with this through all those long board meetings and the endless waiting so thank …
A thousand people actually signed this thing and I am still trying to wrap my head around that number because it just keeps growing. I remember sitting at my desk feeling like no one would care about these pay gaps but now the board really has no choice but to look at what we are saying.

I really never expected so many people to see this and actually care about what is happening here (it feels like the whole town is finally waking up to the pay gap). Seeing the momentum pick up like this is honestly surreal because for a long time I felt like I was shouting into a void.

I have two sons at Noddin Elementary....my older son's excellent second grade teacher left for a nearby district due to the salary and pay gap. We have reserves --- pay our teachers what they are worth! Don't let more good teachers get away!

I have a son with special needs and the teachers at his elementary school and middle school in the Union School District consistently went above and beyond to help him. Educators like this deserve to be compensated fairly for their hard work and dedication.

I have lived in the Alta Vista neighborhood for 31+ years. I do not have children, but have voted for the parcel taxes to help our schools. I am in favor of the teachers. They need an increase in pay or else they will leave for a better paying job.

I taught in Union District for 33years. The compensation packages were always below the surrounding districts. It is time for the Union School District to finally recognize the talented teachers employed by USD with a fair compensation package.

Shame on them! I'm usually so proud of our school district but the fact that they treat the District employees at the district office far better than they teach the teachers who are there working with our kids day in and day out is unacceptable.

The district needs to realize that schools can run without administration, but they will stop to exist when there are no teachers. Health Insurance should be equal for all admin and teachers. If the district admin get free health care so should the teachers.

Teachers, teacher aids, office staff, custodians, have always strived to do what is best for their students! Hopefully, one day, they will all be recognized, compensated and appreciated for their endless dedication they show day in and day out every year.
