Legally bought property on the Bruce. Built a retirement home following all building codes and by-laws. Paid taxes for YEARS. Now the rules change using inaccurate studies and poor communication? We oppose these new zoning by-laws.
Council refuses to listen to its constituents, the majority of whom have spoken loud and clear against this proposed plan for NBP. I am worried about property devaluation, increased insurance costs and outright appropriation of people’s land.
I do not agree with the comprehensive zoning by law and hazard mapping as my home is now partially in the cliff erosion hazard zone. If this plan is adopted it could negatively impact my property value and ability to sell in the future. I strongly object.
Where is the investigation into the zoning changes... all mapping has been done via satellite. Complaints about changes have not been followed up. I believe this has been created in haste and a better investigation needs to be completed before making any changes.
It makes me sad to think that after saving all those years to buy a place to enjoy our retirement, we are spending all our time fighting to protect what we worked so hard to obtain. We'd rather be enjoying the Bruce. Please vote no!

I am stunned with the scope of this bylaw, and how the sneaky council has sought to enact this legislation. More is coming, too. They are going to render our property values virtually worthless if we don't stop this.

I am totally against the high water and storm surge linez which out many existing structures into an area that makes them an insurance risk. Many of the other changes have similar impacts and will drive people away from living here in North Bruce
