We, the undersigned residents of Simpson County and their supporters, respectfully request the City Commission, Fiscal Court, the Planning and Zoning Committee, and the Franklin-Simpson Industrial Board reject the proposed development of an industrial park on land located in south Simpson County. This project poses a significant threat to the rural charm, environmental integrity, and peaceful lifestyle that make our community a special place to live, work, and raise families.

Here are the reasons for our objections:

  • Increased traffic: This development will increase the traffic on Steele, Witt, Lake Spring, and adjoining roads, exacerbate traffic congestion, during peak times, making our commutes and daily life unbearable. Travel on them will be dangerous, and will also damage these county roads. After state funding runs out, the maintenance costs of roads will come from county funds.
  • Loss of green space and agricultural land. Farmland is our heritage and growth should be balanced with respect for our roots. This project will disrupt south Simpson County with industrial sprawl, noise and light pollution, and potential environment harm to our air, water, and soil.
  • This project is prioritizing short-term gain over long-term well being of our residents and the preservation of our land. We believe that encouraging growth through small-scale, infrastructure and community-friendly development that aligns with the values and visions of our county’s residence is the best path forward.

We request that a transparent public hearing be conducted to allow the residents and citizens to voice their concerns.

The quiet of our rural roads is still under threat but I am spending my evenings reviewing the zoning reports to find any opening we can use. It is exhausting work to keep pushing against these boards when they seem to have already made up their minds. We are hanging on because this land cannot be replaced once it is paved over.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that people care about the future of our county just as much as I do. It has been a long and draining road so far but knowing so many neighbors feel the same way keeps me moving forward.

I believe the city of Franklin needs to address the issues of the housing and over crowding of the schools before bringing more industry to our local community. The voices of Franklin Simpson both city and county should matter in this

The area proposed would constitute a major overal of the roadways at Exit 2. What a mess that would be. I can’t imagine KY Downs liking this either Their plans were to expand recreational and hospitality industry.

Although I have a TN address, I live only 1 mile from the warehouses on Vaughn Road! There are many vacant buildings yet they continue to build more! These are not needed! Stop wasting our beautiful farmland for developers to make more money!!!

We do not need another industrial park in Simpson County, especially with our current infrastructure. Simpson County citizens are tired of seeing our small town grow at the rate it is. The increase of traffic and unnecessary growth is terrible for the small town that a lot of us grew up in. We already have rolling blackouts, increased crime, increased traffic, and increased property taxes and bills every month to show that the "growth" we are experiencing does not help the citizens. It lines the pockets of certain individuals and businesses, but has no positive outcome for the citizens already living here.

Witt Road floods now and blocks traffic. We surely don’t need more traffic in our farm area. Protect our farm and home values.

Simpson Co is losing it’s quaint “small town” appeal…if we keep developing our agricultural land, we will be nothing more than a historic town square Surrounded by a bunch of industrial parks….don’t let this happen to our small piece of heaven
