Liberal Democrats are campaigning to stop South Ribble Borough Council from imposing charges to empty our brown garden waste bins.The ‘green waste charge’ has been introduced in other local councils including nearby Pendle, who now have an annual charge of £25 per bin to collect garden waste.When we proposed that the council resolve to maintain our current waste collection service and give a commitment to residents that we will not impose additional charges for the garden waste collection, the Conservatives used their majority to vote it down, leaving the door open to raising extra revenue from emptying our bins.
